In Germany, created the engine for sperm
A group of researchers from the Chemnitz Technical University and the Leibniz Institute of Materials Science and Solid State Physics found a way to increase the motility of spermatozoa by using special engines.
One of the main problems that cause male infertility is low sperm motility, the so-called asthenozoospermia. Thus spermatozoa because of too weak movements of a flagella practically can not move and thus are unable to reach the ovum and fertilize it.
The scientists used miniature spirals controlled remotely by means of a directed magnetic field. The spiral freely grasps the spermatozoon and acts as an engine, pushing it forward.
Scientists hope that their method will be able to successfully pass clinical trials and will be used in practice.
