How to tell if your baby has a common cold?
Treating the cold in infants is aimed to weaken the symptoms of the disease. Give your baby more breast milk, keep the humidity and the temperature in the room at a sufficient level. It’s the first thing you need to do in such case.
At the first sign of cold - newborns should be shown to the doctor, because they are at high risk of serious complications.
Symptoms of common cold in a baby:
- stuffy and runny nose;
- transparent nasal discharge can become heavier and change its color to yellow or green;
- fever;
- sneezing;
- cough;
- decrease in appetite;
- irritability;
- sleep disorder;
Baby’s immune system will need time to learn how to deal with viruses efficiently. If a cold goes smoothly, without any complications, all signs will disappear within 10-14 days.
If the baby is less than 3 months old, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
