Traveling with a baby under 1 year old, to go or not?

Vacation with your baby – what can be more sweet and difficult at the same time? Especially, if it’s your first trip together. To be sure it would bring you a lot of positive impressions, it is important to think through everything. First question is when?

The first 3 months after birth is not the best time for vacation, even if you really want it. This is a period of adaptation for a baby to new living conditions, and for the parents to their new role. It is important to get to know your baby, learn how to recognize his "signals", set a feeding schedule, also make sure that the baby doesn’t have any stomach ache or skin reactions.

3-5 months, characterized as relatively quiet period, the baby is already adapted, but still sleeps a lot . If you don’t want to spend your time sitting in a room or apartment while baby is napping you could use a pram or baby sling to take him outside.

5-7 months, most often at this age the first teeth are erupted, and the solids are introduced. In principle, you can wait with introducing solids and start to give your child new products after vacation, but teeth eruption may get in the way. Children’s teeth can erupt differently: for some it may pass unnoticed, and others can feel discomfort, pain and won’t be able to sleep at night. Also, most of the time baby wants to spend in his mother’s arms, that’s why he can cry whenever she leaves him, even if it’s for a couple of minutes.

8-12 months, again a relatively quiet period. Usually, child naps twice a day, and being impressed by everything around him he can sleep even more on fresh air. Due to overall activity of the child, independent mobility is still very limited –pushchair and sling will come in handy.
